location is great and hospitality staff were wonderful
very noisy, no sound proofing when in room. Lack of car parks. Bar/restaurant staff quite rude to us as lodge guests. Beds very uncomfortable

The location was really a plus, just a short walk away from the lake and close to the Joan Williamson Rose Garden, which was beautiful. The staff at check-in were professional and made the process easy. The hotel has a nice on-site restaurant, which was convenient for meals. I stayed for a family visit and found the overall experience pleasant, although there were some noisy disturbances at night due to the restaurant above our room.

The location is stunning if you are going for one night. The airport is 10 km away, easy to reach. The units are relaxing, absolutely gorgeous with basic toiletries.

I have stayed in the double room with good facilities. The atmosphere of the hotel is LOVELY. The location is stunning and lovely, on the foreshore. Plus, this venue is not far from the town centre, all the shops and the lake and cafes, restaurants, bars, shopping, as well as all the watersports the lake has to offer.

It was nice and clean and very well presented. The whole building was very clean and it looks good
I thought the room was quite small for two people. It was alright for one night though. The room didn't look that small on the website. I would stay there again but would possibly book a bigger room next time

Lakefront lodge could've been almost nice, really. But discovering a stained cup in my room and a kettle with black gunk inside left me questioning cleanliness. I expected some sort of discount or special treatment for the trouble i endured but no, just a standard stay, unbelievable. Decor also felt outdated, not gonna lie.

We loved our room. We stayed at several different places while in New Zealand and this was our favourite. It was clean, comfortable and relaxing and the animal theme was great. Good location too, overlooking Lake Taupo, very nice.

Not sure how to classify the hotel. Really nice facility! South African motif. Very nice restaurant/bar area. Good food, TV, free internet and service experience. First class experience on a budget price.
Wouldn't really call it a dislike but our room was small. However, to be fair we booked the basic standard room. Larger rooms were available for a modest increase in cost.

The view, location, and decor!
The internet does not reach more rooms. That is a must for a successful hotel. Also they literally turn the intnernet off at 11pm....which is when most people need it. And the lobby gets locked up at 11...so there's nothing to do at night...

Check the parking situation early, as it fills up quickly. The pool area is a nice spot to relax.

Being on business it was nice to relax in the bar in front of the open fire towards the end of the evening - it was very relaxing. Love the decor. Beds were one of the most comfy I have experienced!
I found it interesting that when I looked on a website it showed Copothorne, but when I got to my room it showed Best western - not that it bothered me but I was unsure who the group should be?
